There is no denying that drugs and alcohol are prevalent in American high schools today. Teens have been experimenting with and using drugs and alcohol since recorded time. Is it any different today than say 50 years ago.
Let’s begin with simple math. Fifty years ago was 1962. That was the year before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. That was a time many Americans still feel was our “Age of Innocence.”
As a counselor for Underage drug classes I discuss the history of drug use among adolescents with my students. It appears that the availability and the different types of drugs used have seen a dramatic increase over the years. As the prevalence of drugs has increased in schools, so too have the punishments been increased to try and curb the problem.

In this day and age it is important to allow children to use as much creative ability as possible. One of the best ways to do this is to pretend, especially with girls that enjoy dressing up, fashion, and role playing adventures. A friend of mine from high school just got engaged. I’m extremely excited for her. She’s been with her fiance for eight years now, so we’ve all been expecting a proposal for some time.
